One of the main things is the Olmec Exhibit at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). The Olmecs are noted for their gigantic stone heads depicting Black Africans who clearly came to America before Columbus.

On Friday, October 29 at 7:00 pm, the Committee to Eliminate Media Offensive to African People (CEMOTAP) is holding its last meeting of the year athe AFIBA Center located at 5730 Crenshaw Blvd. The theme will be “The African Presence in America Before Columbus.” The featured speakers are Mathu Ater and Attorney Le Grand H. Clegg II.

INTRO TO THE MAYAN CALENDAR


The Mayan Calendar is very much in the news these days, due to the media hype about the calendar coming to and end, along with the rest of the world, on December 21, 2012. This could not be further from the truth, according to ancient,  traditional, and contemporary Mayan elders, leaders and scholars. First of all, the Mayan Calendar is not even a calendar, it is a count! It is Soul Based, but it is not stellar, solar, lunar or even galactic. Even though it DOES coincide with the Turning of the Ages/Galactic Alignment of 2012, it has nothing to do with celestial movement. This is where some interpretations, like the Dreamspell, took a turn in a different direction: trying to force it into something it is not, nor was ever meant to be. Since it is Soul based, it does involve galactic and stellar energies, but not as a way to keep time. It is a way to track the Days, not to clock celestial motion. The Mayan Calendar Count is known as the Tzolkin. Tzol means Galaxy.

“TZOLKIN MEASURES SACRED TIME

The Tzolkin Count of days measures sacred time. It is not based on the measure of the movement of the Earth around the Sun but rather the unique Sacred Energy created by each combination of 20 Day Glyphs and 13 Magic Numbers. These rounds or cycles of 260 days (kin) are endlessly repeating likened to the heartbeat of the Universe.  As Dr. Carl Calleman so succinctly states in The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness: “The tzolkin is really a filtration pattern of divine light. This pattern exists in a realm beyond time, in the mind of God, as it were. The tzolkin by itself is thus a pattern for the unfolding of creative energy rather than a calendar.”

According to the Ancient Greeks, there are two types of time: Chronos and Kairos. Chronos is chronological or sequential time, a quantitative measurement. A good example is the Gregorian Calendar. Kairos is a qualitative measurement – the time in between or the time as the actual moment or the NOW. Kairos is the time when you honor the sacredness of the moment.
Staying in Kairos time and being aware of the day’s (Tzolkin) energy opens your reality
to synchronicities, miracles and magic.

ORIGIN OF THE TZOLKIN COUNT OF DAYS
Many have written and hypothesized about this but no definitive answer has appeared. Perhaps Tony Shearer in Beneath the Moon and Under the Sun says it best:
“A story was told to the Spaniards shortly after the conquest in Oaxaca ….
‘On the day we call Tecpotl (Etznab/Flint) a great light came from the Northeastern sky. It glowed for 4 days in the sky, then lowered itself to that rock (the rock can still be seen at Tenochtitlan de Valle in Oaxaca ). From the light there came a great, a very powerful being who stood on the very top of the rock and glowed like the sun in the sky.

There he stood for all to see, shining day and night. Then he spoke, his voice was like thunder, booming across the valley.
Our old men and women, the astronomers and astrologists, could understand them and he could understand them.
He (the Solar Beam) told us how to pray and fixed for us days of fast and days of feasting. He then balanced the “Book of days” (Sacred Calendar) and left, vowing that he would always watch down on us, his beloved people.’”

The Sacred Calendar, the Tzolkin, was created by combining the 20 sacred glyphs with
13 magic numbers. 13 x 20 = 260.
According to the Mesoamericans of Mexico and Central America , their total concept of life revolved around the Sacred Calendar and life was viewed as a great ceremony.
This ceremony continues today as we follow the Sacred Calendar and dance to the
rhythm of the cycles of the most Sacred Drum.”

What is the Mayan Calendar Count, the Tzolkin, counting? THE EVOLUTION OF CONSCIOUSNESS. Have you ever noticed how the Mayan pyramids all have 9 levels? Have you ever wondered why? Each level refers to a different period of time of life on Planet Earth, starting with the Big Bang,16 billion years ago!  Each level refers to a different Underworld and Level of Consciousness.
   

Mayan Calendar: The Pyramid of Consciousness 

 

According to ancient Mayan beliefs the Cosmos was made up by Nine Underworlds. This fundamental idea was expressed very powerfully through their most important pyramids, the Pyramid of the Plumed Serpent in Chichen-Itza, the Pyramid of the Jaguar in Tikal and the Temple of the Inscriptions in Palenque, which were all built with Nine different stories.
We should then first note that similarly to the pyramids raised by the Maya their calendrical system is also hierarchical in nature, and in the Table above there are Nine different time cycles linked to the 360-day year, the tun. 

A sequence of Thirteen such time periods would then make up a creation cycle of Thirteen Heavens with the specified durations. Thus, each of the Nine Underworlds was created through a sequence of Thirteen Heavens. To exemplify, the longest of the tun-based time cycles was the hablatun of 460 800 000 000 days = 1.26 billion years. Thirteen such hablatuns makes up a creation cycle of a total duration of 13 x 1.26 = 16.4 billion years that created the lowest, the first Underworld. This is a curious finding since this time period, 16.4 billion years, is very close to 
the age of the universe, 15 billion years, the time when matter first emerged from light (Big Bang).




The beginning of the creation of the First Underworld thus coincides well with the current best estimate of the beginning of Creation. This is a fact with very far-reaching consequences, since it means that all we today know to exist - all that has come into existence in the universe since the Big Bang - is included in the time span of the most basic of the creation cycles, the cycle of thirteen hablatuns, which creates the first of the Nine Underworlds. Mayan calendrics and the Mayan cosmology of Nine Underworlds and Thirteen Heavens is thus a tool for exploring all of creation!”


At the present time we are beginning to enter the [7th and final day of] the eighth level of consciousness of the cosmic pyramid, based on the foundation provided by the seven lower levels. This eighth level may be referred to as the galactic frame of consciousness. The highest level of consciousness, the Universal, will be attained through the workings of the Ninth Underworld in the year 2011 and will result in a timeless cosmic consciousness, and a citizenship in the universe, on the part of humanity. Creation moves through 9 ever shortening planks as seen on the Mayan Pyramids.  Each of the Underworlds or cycles is 1/20th the time of its predecessor.  For example, all of us were born during the Planetary Cycle which started in 1755 AD.  Each of the 7 pulsing Days of Light when creation moves forward & alternating 6 Nights of rest and consolidation lasted almost 20 years, 19.7 to be exact.  The Creation task of the Planetary was to develop the Consciousness of Power and to connect the Planet.  I find it fascinating that both the American (1776) and French Revolutions (1789) occurred during the First Night (1775-1795).  The 7th Day of the Planetary started in 1992, the year the Internet was established.

As children growing up in the Planetary we would have spent our entire childhoods in 1 or, at the most, parts of 2 "days" or "nights" running 19.7 years each.  Which means most of us were born in the 5th Night (1932-1952), 6th Day (1952-1972) or 6th Night (1972-1992).  Notice how accurate historical events occurred during those demarcations.  The awful 5th Night of WWII, the Great Depression and Korean War followed by the Leave it to Beaver years of post war expansion of the 6th Day.

The new Underworld we are currently in, the Galactic started January 4th, 1999.  Each Day & Night of the Galactic runs 360 days, almost a year.  The creation task of the Galactic is to establish Truth and Ethics. The WTO/Seattle demonstrations started the last week of December 1998, at the shift point for the First Day.  Obama's election occurred at the shift point for the 6th Day.  The late Ian Lungold used to say that it becomes easier to survive and maintain balance as creation speeds up, using the analogy of riding a bicycle, that you are more likely to wobble and tip over as you slow down.

Here is Calleman's chart of the latter Days & Nights of the Galactic Underworld we are currently in.  Notice in the upper right hand corner, Calleman outlines the Universal Cycle that starts March 8, 2011 and continues to run overlapping the Galactic, as well as all the other lower/earlier Cycles.  We're still on the 7th Day of the Planetary (1992-2011), 7th Day of the National (1617-2011), etc.  Each of the 7 Days & 6 Nights of the Universal lasts 20 days.  The Creation task of the Universal is to establish Unity Consciousness and Conscious Co-Creation.”

According to Calleman, the Mayan Calendar Count ends on October 28, 2011. NOT during the Winter Solstice of 2012. The Calendar ends with ALL underworlds coming to a close on that date. It is crucial to note that the underworlds are all still evolving. It is not that one ends and the next begins. They continue to evolve, or unfold until the end date of October 28, 2011. That is about one year from now.....
