Alonso de Illescas (1528-1585)In 1997, the National Congress of Ecuador declared October 2, the national day of Black Ecuadorians giving formal recognition to Alonso de Illescas (pronounced O-lone-zo Day EE-yes-cahs) a native of Senegal, West Africa. He was brought to Ecuador on a slave ship around the age of 25 and grew up to be a strategist skilled in guerrilla warfare. Behind a fortress built by by an alliance of escaped African slaves and Indigenous people, Illescas and his men fought and turned back many expeditions of Spanish forces.
Esmeraldas is on the Northwestern coast of Ecuador, a six-hour drive from Quito, the nations capital.
He was also a true governor of what is now Ecuador’s province of Esmeraldas; never subject to bribes, and even rejected the title of governor when many politicians gave up their properties to take on the title of governor of Esmeraldas. Olonso IIlescas trained new leaders starting with his son Alonso Sebastian de Illescas and his grandson Jerónimo (Geronimo) so that they be loving of justice and liberty and keep their territory free of Spanish rule. Although, Esmeraldas was the first province invaded by the Spanish, it was the alliance between Blacks and Indigenous people that kept the Spanish from taking full control.
COMMENTARY: We have heard of Haiti, the Garifuna of Belize, the Quilombos of Brasil, the Maroons of Jamaica, the Seminole of the Southeastern Turtle Island, the Moors. And now, the People of Esmeraldas. There are still pockets of freedom still in existence where ever slavery left its deathly impression. Sure, here in the US, Black People have created many forms of music and dance, however, we always go for the commercial, and lose control over the movement. We let go of TRUE culture and spirituality. The majority of the artists in the USA have FULLY embraced their enslavement, and some even work for the Satanic Forces. We are wrong to assume that financial success IS success. It is only a piece of true success. The People of Esmeraldas have created a space in my heart, because they have held onto their culture. Perhaps due to racism, or isolation due to geographical location, they did not go through integration as we did here in the US. Just another observation on ways we have adapted to slavery and the conditions and effects of slavery on our lives.They have racism there for sure, but it is different than it is over here at least these days. Now, it is OUR turn to get shot for being Black….

When Sesheta is in Maat, it is a moment to reflect on Balance, Truth, Order, Harmony, Justice, Reciprocity, and Righteousness. The only way we will see this in the world around us is when we can see Maat in our own lives.
During this moment, we can see HOW to establish a strong foundation, HOW to create with sacred geometry, astrology MAAThematics, Medu Neter, etc, all the tools that Sesheta represents. Time for writing out our dreams. Expressing our BALANCED emotions, and illuminating strategies on how to attain our dream for justice and peace. for the Restoration of Maat upon the Earth. It begins with establishing Maat in our own lives.
Sesheta deals with our personality, our emotions. So the Cosmic Forces have lined up to show us how to keep our emotions balanced. This is when we will be able to see Justice in our lives, and if not, to be able to see what is the RIGHT ACTION TO BE TAKEN,
MAAT is always the way!
Sesheta will remain in alignment with Maat until around 5pm Pacific Time on May 5, then will be in Ip (Scorpio) for about 5 hours, then will ease on into Imhotep (Ophiuchus).
Even if you get this message AFTER the Full Moon, the energies will be present until the next New Moon.
The Sun is still in Aries, Ra Tamet Ammon, so now is also the time to put our creative forces in the direction of building the foundation for our vision, laying the groundwork, by seeking justice, establishing and maintaining balance, especially our emotions. Sesheta (The Moon) is really the only cosmic force that has changed that much since the Eclipse.

Learn to recognize Saturn on the nights of May 4, 5 and 6, 2015 … and enjoy it for weeks to come.
As with all the planets, you’ll find Saturn along the same path that the sun and moon travel across the sky. Look generally eastward a few hours after sunset. On the night of May 4, the waning gibbous moon rises first, at nightfall or early evening, and then Saturn follows the moon into the sky, perhaps an hour or so later. The precise rising times for the moon and Saturn vary worldwide, but both of these worlds should be up by mid-evening, at which time you might also see the ruddy star Antares below Saturn.
Earth will pass between Saturn and the sun on May 22-23, 2015. That is Saturn’s yearly opposition, and it marks the middle of the best time of year to see this planet. So start watching it now! You’ll enjoy it for many weeks to come.
After coming up in the eastern part of the sky this early evening, Saturn will continue to climb upward throughout the evening hours. This world will soar to its highest spot in the sky after the midnight hour. It’ll be low in the west at morning dawn.

“There is no future for a people who deny their past. My Foreparents, My Grandparents, My Mother, My Father did not suffer and die to give me an education to slight, oppress or discourage my people. Whatsoever education I acquired out of their sacrifice of over 300 years, I shall use for the salvation of the 400 million Black people of the world. And the DAY when I forsake my people; may GOD Almighty say, “there shall be no more life for you”.
I unequivocally rejected the racist assumption of much white American Christianity. Namely that God had created the black man inferior. And that he intended Negroes to be a Servant class, heavers of wood and drawers of water. Well I predicated my view of man on the doctrine of E Margo de E “all men regardless of color are created in the image of GOD”. From this premise come the equality of all men and brotherhood of all men. The Biblical injunction of Acts 17:26 reminds us that He created of one blood all nations of men to dwell on the face of the earth and is most interested in brotherhood than with ones own race. Because if Negroes are created in God’s image, and Negroes are Black then God must IN SOME SENSE be Black.
If the White man has the Idea of a white God let him worship his God as he desires. We have found a new ideal. Because God has No color, and yet it is HUMAN to see everything through ones own spectacles, and since the white people have seen their god thru their white spectacles, we have only now started to see our God thru our own Spectacles.
But we believe in the God of Ethiopia, the everlasting God; God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy One, the one God of all the Ages; that is the God of whom we believe but we shall worship HIM thru the spectacles of Ethiopia.
For two hundred and fifty years we have struggled under the burden and rigors of slavery. We were maimed, we were brutalized, we were ravaged in every way. We are men, we have hopes, we have passions, we have feelings, we have desires just like any other race. The cry of race all over the world, of Canada for the Canadians, of America for the Americans, Of England for the English, of France for the French or Germany for the Germans; do they think it unreasonable that we the Blacks of the world should raise our cry Africa for the Africans?
The Negro is a MAN; we represent the New Negro. His back is not yet against the wall, we do not want his back against the wall because that would be a peculiar and desperate position. We do not want him there. It is because of this we are asking for a fair compromise. Well the Belgians have control over the Belgian Congo, which they cannot use. They have not the resources to develop, nor the intelligence. The French have more territory than they can develop, there’s certain parts of Africa in which they cannot live at all. So it is for YOU to come together and give us a United States of Africa. We are not going to be a race without a country. God never intended it and we are not going to disappoint God’s confidence in us as Men. We are Men, human beings, capable of the same acts as any other race. Possessing under fair circumstances the same INTELLIGENCE as any other race. Now Africa’s been sleeping. Not dead, only sleeping. Today Africa is walking around not only on our feet but on our brains. You can enslave us for some 300 years, the bodies of men, you can shackle the hands of men, you can shackle the feet of men, you can imprison the bodies of men, BUT YOU CANNOT SHACKLE OR IMPRISON THE MINDS OF MEN.
Rise up Black Men, and take your stand. Reach up black men and women and pull all nature’s knowledge to you. Turn ye around and make a conquest of everything North and South, East and West. And then we you have wrought well, you will have merited God’s blessing, you will become God’s chosen people and naturally you’ll become leaders of the world. And as you bow down to the white man today, so will others bow down to you and call you a race of masters because of the intelligence of your mind and your achievements. No race has the last word on culture and civilization. They do not know what we’re capable of; they do not know what we’re thinking. They’re thinking in terms of dreadnaughts, battleships, airplanes and submarines. You know what we’re thinking about? That is our own private business.
So give us credit for being able to use our minds. And once people are in concept of themselves; determined to use their minds you do not know to what extent they can go. Liberate the minds of men and ultimately you will liberate the bodies of men.”

April 19, 2015 Aries Sidereal New Moon
This is actually the True SIDEREAL New Year. There are so many new years, but this is the one that is based on when the Sun is in Sidereal Aries, and the Moon moves into Sidereal Aries as well.
In the Vedic Tradition, this happened last week, on April 12. The reason for this difference is that they do not acknowledge the presence of Imhotep (Ophiuchus) in their Zodiac System I still find their descriptions very useful, and call on this tradition from time to time.
The Spring Equinox occurs while we are still in Sidereal Pisces. It has nothing to do with the Moon. Soon, it will occur during the month of Sidereal Aquarius! It is simply when the Galactic and Planetary Axises line up. It will ALWAYS occur on March 19-21 and in the Fall, September 19-21, regardless of which constellation the Sun and Moon are enjoying at that moment.

Ra Set reminds me of all the troubles that Ra had to deal with when Set was battling Heru for the throne. Just the way we battle with our higher self, or fight our Ego, or just doubt. And, also, of how much can be accomplished when we are able to keep our Ego, our mind, our thoughts, in alignment with Maat, with a higher and greater purpose. This means incredible energy to great use, by remaining steadfast in our convictions, and focused on our goals. Like an arrow destined for the target. Here is our opportunity to build a life that can shine brightly for generations, centered on the Divine, and grounded in Maat, we can accomplish so much more. Using all of our gifts to express the Divine and the Cosmic Forces within us, to achieve great things. Tools: Ground on which to plant a rose bush; rose food; peat moss; cornmeal; tobacco; shovel;your smudge bowl, sweet grass and sage; matches; journal and pen.
The Ceremony of the red rose is an honoring of the self, The red rose stands for your Strength. The ceremony is done to celebrate it. The best time for planting the rose is in the Spring–the day after a Full Moon.
1. The Opening of the self. Sit with your journal at the beginning of the day, preferably at sunrise, but definitely before 10:00 am. The first part of the ceremony is the opening of the self. Allow yourself to look at your weaknesses and list them. They represent the thorns on the rose. They are the clues that you are acting out the emotions of fear, sadness, anger or disgust. It is the rose’s way of protecting itself. It is your way of destroying your human connection to spirit by protecting yourself, by allowing yourself to be a thorn. You are pushing yourself away instead of pulling yourself towards.
2. Honor the Ground. Choose a piece of ground in which to plant the rose bush–a park, your own yard or someone else’s — where it can remain an honor, an achievement. Honor the ground by placing tobacco and cornmeal, and smudging the ground in the area where the hole will be dug to plant the rose bush.
3. The purchasing and the bringing of the plant. It is important to know a little bit about roses, so go to a nursery to purchase the rose bush and asks questions. Read the instructions and pay attention to what the rose expert tells you to do. Part of gathering Strength is understanding and having knowledge.
Here are the flowers that I gathered for the ceremony. I also got some herbs like Oregano, Rec Sage, White Sage, Strawberries. You know the Cherokee legend of First Man and First Woman? Will post that next time. For now, just know that when they had an argument, and First Woman ran off, everywhere her tears fell a strawberry grew. This is how First Man found her. To me, Strawberries represent HEALED RELATIONSHIPS.
4. The opening of the hole.
The rose represents the male, and the hole represents the female. You need to re-unite the rose with the earth. From there you will grow your strength.
Start in the east with prayer and dig a hole in the ground. When you have achieved a hole of the right depth for planting the rose bush (by reading the instructions), place cornmeal in the hole and plant food for the rose. Then place the fresh rose bush in the hole and put in your prayers for Strength by taking a pinch of tobacco and holding it to your heart, making your prayer, and placing the tobacco in the ground. Fill in the area around the rose, packing it loosely with peat moss and dirt. Cover the hole but do not press down on it. Pressing is anger. Just cover the hole lightly and loosely. After you have covered the hole, give it water and watch your Strength grow.
5. First Bloom.
When your rose bush puts out its first bloom, look into the rose. Spend time around your rose bush, go to your rose bush to pray; go to your rose bush to dance.
If you cannot get to a place where you can plant a rose bush, do this ceremony in your mind. Go into your mind, close your eyes, breathe deeply, and see the rose bush in front of you. Go there in your spirit and be there with the rose. One of the most beautiful things in shamanism is that you can have both the earth and the spirit world. You can go both places and become enriched.
