About Tchiya

“Her music is rooted in Roots Reggae, Traditional Native American, Afro Brazilian and Afro Cuban  music, a blend of Indigenous and Contemporary world rhythms I call “Reggae Fusion Jazz”- says Sirron Kyles, General Manager at HousTone Records.

Tchiya is a student of several languages, “I can order dinner and get around town in many places!”-she jokes. Many different languages are featured in songs on this CD. “Often referred to as the Island’s Robert Flack because of her soft vocal style, but similarities to Sade and Esperanza Spalding, a mild Erykah Badu, Sun Ra because of Tchiya’s fondness for unique instrumental arrangements,  and of course Bob Marley because of her oneness messages which are always featured in her song lyrics”- says Marc Gordon Entertainment Editor, Waiting Room, USA Magazine. Standing Rock Medicine Wheel Summer Solstice

Good Rising and Great Awakenings. Greetings. OSIYO.

Standing Rock Medicine Wheel Living Park is hosting the first Summer Solstice Celebration June 22-24. They invited Tchiya Amet and Band to bring Native Reggae to the event. When I first learned of the event, I figured it was a fundraiser for Standing Rock. But, it is not like you are probably thinking. Beth and Robert White Mountain are Lakota People with a vision to bring people together in honor of the Summer Solstice. Yes, they live at Standing Rock in South Dakota.

The festival organizers are able to compensate, however, it is not enough to cover transportation costs. So, rather than cancel the appearance, we chose to reach out to community and raise funds. I started a patreon page, but so many people had problems figuring out how to use it, and so, even though this page is “homemade”, it works the same way. You can still go the patreon page and make an offering.

Or, you can go to PayPal.me/medicineband and make a donation. If you want the downloads or songbooks, that are offered at patreon.com, just let me know.

About HousTone Records

One of the key elements in working with all artists at HousTone Records is the artist must agree to record two well-known cover songs per CD. This allows many up-and-coming artists to be judged by fans for the talent they have, based on music the listeners already know. From these selections, we choose songs that match the theme and release them to expose their music to the fans that want it.

Hurricane Reggae Band set to Replace DubDis performing with Tchiya Amet & Lenni I at the DoJo June 25

Press Release: June 10, 2017

Tchiya will be performing her traditional “Reggae Jazz Fusion” show, but will also be performing a second show: a rare performance of her “Ancient Egyptian Fusion Reggae” music at DoJo. The shows will also feature Jamaica’s own Lenni I and De Hurricane Reggae Band from Chicago replacing Dub Dis; and limited tickets are still available for both shows. On July 1st, 2017 Tchiya Amet will be performing live along side Capleton & The Prophecy Band, Queen Ifrica, Lenni I, and the Hurricane Reggae Band from Chicago replacing Dub Dis, at the International Festival Of Life, in Chicago, IL.
DibDis is not able to make these performances. However, Chicago’s own De Hurricane Reggae Band is backing up Tchiya Amet and Lenni I.  They have been playing  together as a solid working reggae band for a lot longer than that other band.

Tchiya will be performing songs from her latest release, The Best, which you can find in the Timeless Classics collection Vol. XI by HousTone Records,  that focuses on re-introducing an artist’s earlier music to today´s music lovers. This CD was inspired by the ever-growing enthusiasm for all types of Reggae, World and Jazz Music performed by Women from around the world.

“It’s a new approach to locating music you may enjoy and are not aware of, or simply forgot about,” – said HousTone Records A & R Manager, Joc Vann. “Music lovers have a variety of technology options on how they can find and enjoy music today, this CD allows audiences to explore those options, to connect or reconnect with artists and music they may choose to add to their playlists, just by searching for artists and songs from the Timeless Classics collection.”
