Were you Aware of Chicagohenge? It is like Stonehenge, except that the alignment takes place in Chicago!
from timeout.com/chicago Half-natural, half- man-made, Chicagohenge refers to the phenomenon that occurs twice a year during the spring and fall equinoxes (the official start of each respective season), when the sun rises and sets directly east and west. Because Chicago’s streets are aligned on a north-south grid system, that allows for gorgeous views of the sun hanging low between the buildings on the city’s east-west streets—especially in the Loop, where towering skyscrapers offer the perfect frame for sunrise and sunset. You can typically view Chicagohenge for a few days after the equinox, too.
Big arterial streets in the Loop (like Madison, Kinzie, Randolph or Lake Streets) usually offer picturesque set-ups. Try not to fret if you miss this one, though—there’s always next time!

Putting on events that coincide with the Spiral Dance, the 8 points around the Wheel of Life, brings me joy, alignment, breakthroughs. MUSIC! I love it! I have been doing Medicine Wheel Circles at these points for many years now. Excited to add a trip downtown for #Chicagohenge, for another great Equinox experience. Perhaps I will see you there! I will probably choose Lake Street, then head Straight to the Lake!
Then just a few days later, we will meet up at the KATALYST for a Night of Original Reggae. 13257 S. Baltimore and bring in the Autumnal Equinox with Music.
We are so grateful to announce that Tchiya Amet and Band will be performing at the African festival of the Arts on the World Music Stage Saturday 9-3 at around 3pm. Looking forward to seeing you there!
Since 1989. This event is the flagship of the Africa International House. This 4 day event has stayed perfectly true to its mission: to promote, preserve and propagate African American culture. The AFA is a series of festivals within a festival built around African culture: art, music, dance, history and current interests and pursuits. Stimulation is the operative word used to describe the African Festival of the Arts (AFA). The visitor’s first rush of sights, sounds and sweet and savory smells are almost overwhelming. The senses can barely take it all in. The event site spans more than twelve acres and each one of them is jam packed with cultural entertainment, education, shopping, food, drink and fun including: • A Fine Arts Pavilion where more than $1M in art sales are exchanged. • An African Market. • A Drum Village. • Three entertainment stages. • National music headliners. • Sponsorable pavilions that focus on African Heritage, literature, automotive, family and children, technology, spirituality, business/finance, green/energy, wellness/fitness, dance, education, film, fashion and others. • An international food court.

And for the Reggae fans, I am sure you must be wondering what caused this Spiritual Direction and Intense Focus of this Music! Well it was my personal musical healing journey. To be honest, there is waaaaaaaaaayyyyyy too much toxic masculinity and colonialism for me to continue as exclusively a Reggae Artist. Too much religious oppression and spiritual enslavement. Too. much Caucasity involved in the Reggae Music Industry. I needed to get more in touch with Divinity, with the Divine Feminine, and not be involved in a movement that required me to remain silent.
So, after decades of exploring other Indigenous Practices and Spiritual technologies, I landed in Ancient Kemet. These are the teachings that allowed me to literally CHANGE NY MIND. To transform myself into My Higher Self.
If you notice, all of my music has been about putting teachings of the Four Directions to Music. I stayed in Kemet for 12 years so far, Moree to come.
During the Ancient African Adorations sessions, we dive deep into the teachings offered for the Holy day, then towards the end, the Song Writing Enchantress appears, and creates new music on the spot, based on the Scriptures or reflections of the Teachings. Sometimes, the teachings and writings of Sebai Maa (Dr. Muata Ashby) & Seba Dja (Dr. Karen “Dja” Ashby) are presented. Sometimes, just the personal reflections of the Chantress and Overseer of AstMaataJi Temple of Divine Light Healing and Sweet Sounds, Arit Neter S Mery Maati, aka Tchiya Amet.
This Music is a reflection of my spiritual journey, and is being shared to enhance your own journey as well.
And, now it is time for …..MORE GREAT ORIGINAL REGGAE MUSIC!!! SPRINQUINOX 2022
“Her music is rooted in Roots Reggae, Traditional Native American, Afro Brazilian and Afro Cuban music, a blend of Indigenous and Contemporary world rhythms I call “Reggae Fusion Jazz”- says Sirron Kyles, General Manager at HousTone Records.
Tchiya is a student of several languages, “I can order dinner and get around town in many places!”-she jokes. Many different languages are featured in songs on this CD. “Often referred to as the Island’s Robert Flack because of her soft vocal style, but similarities to Sade and Esperanza Spalding, a mild Erykah Badu, Sun Ra because of Tchiya’s fondness for unique instrumental arrangements, and of course Bob Marley because of her oneness messages which are always featured in her song lyrics”- says Marc Gordon Entertainment Editor, Waiting Room, USA Magazine. Tchiya Amet aka Arit moved back to Chicago almost one year ago. This will her first Musical event in Chicago since making that move. At the Summer Solstice, Tchiya Amet Band traveled to Standing Rock for a Summer Solstice festival. In August, she began playing with SuRa and the Side Pocket Experience. Tchiya has performed her Reggae Music in Chicago a few times in the past, and this will be the first time presenting Ancient African Adorations in her Hometown. COME JOIN US!
Brought to you by Milky Way Records & Productions and the Light Being Wellness Center.
Good Rising and Great Awakenings. Greetings. OSIYO.
Standing Rock Medicine Wheel Living Park is hosting the first Summer Solstice Celebration June 22-24. They invited Tchiya Amet and Band to bring Native Reggae to the event. When I first learned of the event, I figured it was a fundraiser for Standing Rock. But, it is not like you are probably thinking. Beth and Robert White Mountain are Lakota People with a vision to bring people together in honor of the Summer Solstice. Yes, they live at Standing Rock in South Dakota.
The festival organizers are able to compensate, however, it is not enough to cover transportation costs. So, rather than cancel the appearance, we chose to reach out to community and raise funds. I started a patreon page, but so many people had problems figuring out how to use it, and so, even though this page is “homemade”, it works the same way. You can still go the patreon page and make an offering.
Or, you can go to PayPal.me/medicineband and make a donation. If you want the downloads or songbooks, that are offered at patreon.com, just let me know.
